Franklin's Promise Coalition at work!
Current Projects
and Special Committees:
Community Wellness and Behavioral Health Committee
Addressing the behavioral health issues of Franklin County for individuals, families and the community. Facilitating a discussion among all county interests, including governmental agencies, social service organizations, faith-based community leaders and service providers. The committee continues to identify gaps in services and explore the effects of fragmented services. Chair, Clarice Powell, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Victims Advocate.
Transitional Housing Task Force
Examining the depth of the homelessness problems in Franklin County. Educating the general public on the true definition of homelessness and collecting the appropriate data to address the issues in the county. Currently we have seen a rise in families who have to share households or live with relatives/friends due to economics.
Opportunity Task Force
Using Capital Area Community Action Agency's Family Self-sufficiency Program as a model, we bring partners such as Franklin County Literacy, the Gulf Coast Workforce Board, Catholic Charities, as well as Capital Area Community Action Agency and others to develop individual work skills and entrepreneurial knowledge for Franklin County residents.
